Because you’re in sacred space, anything and everything you do during the meal becomes a sacred act. Every bite you take is a sacred act; every conversation you have is a sacred act (no matter how ridiculous or raunchy or irreverent.) Every act of generosity, every sip of wine, every meeting of the eye – they all become sacred within sacred space.
By Deborah Globus This is the festival meal we used to celebrate my friend, June’s 75th birthday. The basic idea comes from Grandmother Moon by Zsuzsuanna E. Budapest, and we spiced it up a bit with sacred space with some candles and tarot cards for inspiration.

By Deborah Globus As “cluttered creatives”* we have eternal optimism. Every idea is a blessing and a welcome guest, worthy of our love and consideration. Every opportunity is a precious gift, full of potential and promise.
Which is why they ALL end up as projects, vying for space in our work spaces and attention from our already maxed-out brains! As creatives, we would never dream of asking an idea or opportunity to go away. Hence the cluttered in “cluttered creative!” But full-to-bursting, maxed-out brains don’t do anybody any good – not us as creators, not the ideas and opportunities, and certainly not the people that long for and need our completed creations. So, yes, find systems that work for you. By all means, declutter your desk (there’s a special kind of magic in that, and it’ll make you feel better!) AND… …when you’ve done all that and still feel like you can’t herd the cats into submission, try one of these methods to keep your projects contained: by Deborah Globus I make stories. It’s just what I do. My LEGO minifig collection is set up in vignettes, like Jane and Tarzan and their family of chimps, or the gay hippies with their flowers on their commune. And of course there are all the monsters at the Monster Mash! I make stories. I always have.

One of the women in my Monthly Planning Ritual call was telling a story about an in-home creativity retreat that she took when her retreat house got snowed in. She excitedly told us about her candle, and the special food and…her happy clothes. Happy clothes?!? What are you going to do at Christmas dinner when your racist uncle starts spouting opinions that insult and offend everything you value?
If you’re already feeling frazzled, how much worse is that “conversation” going to go? Let’s talk honestly for a moment. The holidays are fraught with difficulties. This has always been true; it’s doubly so with our current political climate. A ritual is a symbolic representation of what you long for.
In this case, you want a loving, lasting, fulfilling relationship, someone to spend a long, happy, and meaningful life with. This ritual is going to help bring you and this person together! The simplest way to do this ritual is to light two candles and move them closer together, symbolizing you moving towards each other and finding one another. That would work. But what works better is adding layers! How does that work? Download this ritual and you'll find several suggestions of layers to add together, both before and during your ritual – pick and choose which ones are most appealing to you. Here’s what I posted in the Everyday Rituals Group that I run on Facebook:
Someone once described the year as a breath with the exhale occurring from June to December, and the exhale from December through June. The solstices are the pause between the inhale and exhale. At 11:26 EST today, Nature stops exhaling and starts to take a nice, big, deep breath. I plan on joining in. Sometimes rituals are long and involved. Sometimes they are no longer than a moment. This breath, this noticing, is one of the ones that only takes a moment. So, whenever this post finds you, wherever you may be, take part in a ritual and breathe for a moment. Give thanks for the privilege of another breath. And in that instance between exhale and inhale, notice the pause...and the desire for more. Connect with what you desire more of, and then let it go with an exhale of breath. So mote it be. At 11:24 I hit Post and went to take my own advice by Deborah Globus It’s been quite a year.
Though I suspect you can probably find call to say that about most years. Still, we’ve made it to another one and that? That is a very good thing. Now it is time to close out the old year and put it to rest, along with all that is unfinished in your heart. Now is the time to begin afresh, with blessings of protection and connection to That Which Is Bigger, positive energy, uplifted moods, Self-Love, and a little bit of prosperity to boot. Here is a ritual in the form of a bath to help you do just that! (Though you can do it just as easily as a shower!) I hope you enjoy it. I hope it leaves you refreshed. Wishing you every joy in the New Year! Bright Blessings, by Deborah Globus I’ve been on a bit of a “hiatus” from my business for the last six months or so. Sure I’ve been attending to my monthly and weekly clients, but all you have to do is look at the dates of the posts on my blogs to know that I’ve been mostly MIA.
The why isn’t really important. Neither is the guilt I feel for having been less than responsible, or even the rising panic that I may never get my business back on track. What is important is that I’ve been here before, and I know how to reconnect with my business. |
