And here’s why: I’m terrible at it.
What a surprise!
Here’s the thing: It kinda IS a surprise (and an unpleasant one at that.)
You see, I’m the kind of person who’s GOOD at stuff…immediately. I excel. And if I don’t, I stop. I’ve always been that way.
I can’t keep being that way, though. Stuff is more challenging these days. Maybe it’s because I covered all the stuff that came with ease. Maybe it’s that what I’m doing now is HARD. It’s hard to run a successful business; it’s hard to make money. Yeah, making money at stuff is something I never excelled at. I’ve struggled with it since I had my first business selling bracelets at the age of 13! It never got any easier; it never got any better. |
And I’ll keep at the hula hooping. I’m gaining experience – it stayed up for a little longer that last time! There’s this annoying adage that says “how you do anything is how you do everything” and I think there’s something to learn about making money in business by learning how to hoop.
Here’s to practicing or as I prefer: gaining experience!
And if it feels like learning about your business through stuff like hula hooping (and other out of the box thinking) as well as ritual and ceremony, please take a look at October’s Virtual Business Retreat page. It’s chocked full of goodness and the more the merrier.
