Imbolc Ritual for Manifesting Your Intentions

Imbolc 1996 with so many candles and so many intentions
Imbolc marks the halfway point between the Winter Solstice
and the Vernal Equinox.

It’s a celebration of longer, warmer days and the first hints of returning Spring.
To reinforce this steadily growing light – to really bring it home that the days are longer and the Spring is coming – we celebrate with candles.  Doing this ritual with a large group means lots of candles, and lots of light!  But even if you’re working solo, one candle grows the light; one candle is enough to make your intentions come to fruition.

What you’ll need:

Red candle
Knife or skewer
Steady candle holder
4 candles for calling the quarters (creating sacred space) (optional)
List of Runes (see below)
Picture
Light candle in the North and say:

From the cold, dark North
Winter’s home
We call in our bodies
That we may be fully present in our circle this night.

Light candle in the East and say:

From the windblown East
Sunrise home
We call in our minds
That we may be fully present in our circle this night.

Light candle in the South and say:

From the warm and wild South
Summer’s home
We call in our spirits
That we may be fully present in our circle this night.

Light candle in the West and say:

From the wet and watery West
Rain shower home
We call in our hearts
That we may be fully present in our circle this night.

We come together this Imbolc night to celebrate the longer days that are finally, once again noticeable!  The cold days of winter will dwindle, making way for the warmth of Spring.

Carve your rune(s) into your candle, focusing on what you want to bring into your life between now and the Spring Equinox in mid-March.

Use more than one rune if you feel called to, just remember that you’re a CO-Creator in this process.  Ideally, you’ll want to be working on your intention alongside the Universe.  At the very least you’ll want to pay attention to signs that your intention is being fulfilled; and when you do notice, say “thank you.”  Just to let the Universe know you noticed.

Set your candle in the holder and light it.  As the wax melts, your intentions are realease to the Universe, gently and steadily.

Meditate on your candle for as long as you like.

When you’re ready, extinguish your candles in each of the four directs (starting in the North) by saying “thank you.”

Move your intention candle to a secure location where it can burn down and extinguish itself.  (Yes, you can extinguish it and light it again the next night but it’s better to do it all in one fell swoop.)  Your ritual is complete.

Wishing you and yours a Blessed Imbolc!
