Angels are another name for feelings. When we love and act with kidness we create angels of love and kindness; when we hate and act with violence we create angels of hatred and violence. It is our job to fill the world with angels of love: messengers of kindness that link people together as one family. Rami M. Shapiro |

Bless this lady whose prayers are in the little book - Short Prayers! God, I just turned the page in my calendar. What heappened to next month? There too much to do in too little time. Help me not waste the coming days. Help me savor each on in spite of the busyness. Amen. -harriet crosby May you, too, “savor each one in spite of the busyness.” by Deborah Globus Today’s prayer comes from a book whose title I adore: Short Prayers for Busy Women; inspirational thoughts to get you through the next five minutes. I mean, how cool is that? To call prayer what it often is – a practice to get you through a tough time, especially if that “tough time” is just the next five minutes. This is for me but goes out to anyone who struggles with an anxiety disorder or just anxiety in general: God, I’m so anxious and worried I feel I’m going to come through my eyeballs. Yet I know all things rest in the palm of your hand. Help me rest there too, calmed by your love. Amen. -harriet crosby by Deborah Globus Color plays an important part in our lives and in our rituals.
Here is a mish mosh of color meanings that I use in my own rituals, including my upcoming Vernal Equinox Ritual. There’s a little red book I go to when I’m feeling…out-of-sorts (though I never actually feel “in-sorts,” but that’s neither here nor there.)
It’s a handy book, chock full of affirmations and flowery language enough to set anyone a-rights.
by Deborah Globus I love Tolkien. From those very early days of reading The Hobbit for the very first time, to falling in love with Strider and hunting for Ents in my neighborhood – Tolkien has become embedded in my life. It’s not that passionate love either. It’s the kind that grows when you’ve been together for so long and experienced so much together that you just are…together.
by Deborah Globus I heard a very sweet news story recently. There’s a man (didn’t even catch where) that every evening at sundown goes out on the balcony of his apartment and plays Taps. That’s not even the best part: as soon as his neighbors hear the first few notes they also go out and stand at attention until the last note dies away. Taps is a hauntingly beautiful piece of music (24 notes) and what a gorgeous way to be called back to yourself once a day. A reminder to be mindful… by Deborah Globus "I no longer call such tasks housework. I call them the domestic arts, paying attention to to all the ways they return me to my senses. When the refrigerator has nothing in it but green onions that have turned to slime and plastic containers full of historic leftovers, I know my art is languishing When I cannot tell whether that is a sleeping cat or an engorged dust ball under my bed, I know I have been spending too much time thinking. It is time to get down on my knees. After I have spent a whole morning ironing shirts, folding linens, rubbing orange scented wax into wood and cleaning dead bugs out of light fixtures, I can hear the whole house purring for the rest of the afternoon. I can often hear myself singing as well, satisfied with such simple domestic purpose." Barbara Brown Taylor, pg 120 of An Altar in the World |
