Baby Welcoming - Welcome Your Little One, Your Way

A Baby Welcoming Ceremony can include ....
Hello, Mah Baby!
Some people think that a baby welcoming ceremony has to be a religious ceremony, like a bris or a christening. They think it has to be done in a certain place, at a certain age, and in a certain way.
Totally not true. Baby welcoming ceremonies can come in all shapes and sizes!
When my daughter was born, my husband and I (a complicated multifaith couple) knew we wanted to celebrate her arrival and formally welcome her into the family. We also knew that neither a baptism nor a Jewish naming ceremony was right for us.
Her’s was the first baby welcoming ceremony I ever wrote.
By writing it ourselves we were able to include everything that was important to us without any of the religious trappings we didn’t want. The result was a beautiful day - a day whose heart-felt words and sentiments stay with me to this day.
Now I help other families have that same experience.
The beauty of working together to create a ceremony is that it can be whatever you want it to be: whatever age, whatever elements. We’ll blend traditions, activities and blessings to make your child’s ceremony beautiful, unique and meaning-filled.
Regardless of your beliefs, we’ll pick just the right activities for YOU.
And on the day of the ceremony, I’ll be there to organize folks, explain what we’re doing in clear, concise language, and make sure everything flows smoothly. It’s called “holding the space” – it means I’ll create a safe and protective environment for intimacy and heart-connections to be made.

You can enjoy your special day, confident that your guests are in good hands. I know present this material in a way that’s not too “woo-woo,” that meets people where they are and allows everyone to participate comfortably – regardless of belief sets or personality type/temperament.
I’m often asked if La Padre ceremonies are right for more “traditional” family members. Only you know for sure but I always encourage people to err on the side of inclusion. I’ve never had a client disappointed by including someone; ritual has a way of bringing out the best in people.
Don’t let this precious milestone pass you by just because those religious ceremonies aren’t a good fit for you.
